Build Confidence & Social Skills for Life!

Swimming is an important skill for every person.  This can be especially true for individuals with special needs and developmental disabilities.  Not only will our adaptive swim lessons improve the individual’s strength and flexibility, it will also help improve their social skills and self awareness.

School In The Pool is the only accredited private swim school in North York dedicated to serving those living with Autism and special needs.

Our experienced staff is trained in serving the sensitivity needs of autistic individuals, and our approach is friendly, kind and ensures that every swimmer leaves the pool feeling respected, excited and loving the water!

It is important for children and adults with emotional, behavioural and communication disorders to learn to swim through one-on-one instruction.  That’s why, our adaptive swim lessons are one–hour private classes, ensuring swimmers get the attention they deserve.

Experienced, Certified Instructors

Our certified instructors have more than a decade of experience teaching adaptive swim lessons for individuals with special needs. Due to our one on one (private) sessions, the experience is enjoyable for the swimmer with special needs and the parent or caregiver that attends. Our expertise in adaptive swim lessons means that any person with disabilities can participate including those living with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Integration, and Motor Development symptoms.

Comfortable, Soothing Environment

Our salt water pool is heated to 91 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring a comfortable and warm environment to learn their aquatic skills. At School In The Pool, we believe every individual deserves a safe and fun environment to learn how to swim, and will strive to provide a positive experience to ensure all special needs swimmers keep returning to the water.

Bobby Ho

M.PEd., BCBA, RBA (Ont.)
Clinical Supervisor

Bobby’s main drive in the field of education has been his fascination with reducing and eliminating barriers to learning. Since 2011 he has been supporting families of individuals with special needs, particularly autism, as a behaviour therapist in various settings, including home-, school-, centre-, and community-based environments, as well as group homes and psychiatric wards. He believes that learners can attain their goals most rapidly by training their significant others to use specialized teaching strategies. In 2016 he completed his Master of Professional Education, specializing in Applied Behaviour Analysis, at the University of Western Ontario and has been a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst since 2019. He is also the owner and Clinical Director of Apex Educational Consulting Services Inc., an organization that specializes in home-based ABA services for individuals with autism.

Outside of his life as a behaviour therapist, Bobby can be found working on his fitness goals, attending kickboxing classes, and performing and teaching drums and percussion.
